Last drawer now finished.

Last big drawer cover finished. The block I used for this one was from a round robin I did a few years ago. The work is exquisite, I think it was the Pearls and lace one, Kathy Shaw was one of the participants, along with Nicki Lee, Susan Locke and Rita Cruz. This one is my favourite, mainly due to the block and the colours, just love it.

Thank you ladies for giving me such a wonderful keepsake.

And close ups:

I will followup in a few weeks once they are placed in the van.

Last of CQ Round Robins

Well I have finished my work on my final two Round Robins with Crazy Quilting International for a while due to us off travelling our great county in a few weeks.
Both of the Round Robins were themed 'Garden and Flowers'.

Traditional RR - Candji's block.  I added a beetle and sent to Gerry to complete as this was a time when we were preparing the house for sale.

My naked block:

And my finished block, just stunning, so much work and detail.  Will be made into a cushion for our new caravan.

Then the DYOB (Do your own block) - Barbara's blocks, this is my work.
Barbara's full set after I had completed mine.  These were sent to Elizabeth to do one and then she would send the set home to Barbara.
 Elizabeths's block, my work
 Elizabeths full set.
Now to refresh your memory this is my original set (they were destroyed by a post office truck fire), my second set I sent contained four fans.
 Here are my completed blocks.
they will be added to the other six blocks from the Southern Cross Crazies Round Robin and made into a single bed throw (eventually, as they are now packed).

They will all look so good together I think.

Thank you to all the ladies who worked on my blocks, I will miss doing them, but I will have CQ to keep me busy with the 2015 CQJP starting up in January and I have at least 30 blocks to do, as well as the remaining six blocks in my 12 days of Christmas Wall hanging.
Here are my CQ Blocks for 2015, they will be made into a bedspread for the caravan, in Aussie outback colours.

Well that's the last of these RR posts for some time.

Working hard - catching up

Boy oh boy, where did that month go.... Time to catch up.  I have been doing RR's now since 2007, in that time I have only had one block go missing which was last year, someone obviously loved it more than we did. I have never had any of my blocks go missing nor have I ever asked for an Angel to step in on an RR, as I believe you sign up for one, you really should see it through, but unfortunately, due to some other commitments, I wasn't able to keep up, so I called in an Angel, thanks Renee and Gerry, yes two Angels as I was in two RR's.  But wait there's more to this tale, not only was it the first time I called in the Angels but it's the first time my blocks have gone AWOL, (Absent without leave - for those who don't know the acronym). Not only were they AWOL, they got destroyed in a Post van fire, thank heavens the Postal Driver was OK.  Bugger to say the least, thanks to one of the ladies in the RR to register my blocks. What made it more upsetting, is they were going to be a part of larger set to make a single bed cover for a friend. So I've had to scrounge together another set to go around, I was getting low on supplies of this fabric as they were only cut from 10inch squares and there was only so much fabric left to make part of them, so they have other colours mixed in now, hope they all go together when they all come home.  Oh well, over it now. Enough waffling on..... so  I have been doing some RR's to catch up and here are the pictures.

Shelly's Block for the Gardens and Flowers DYOB

Veila's Block, my work is the top left side.
 Here's a close up.
For the Southern Cross Crazies - this is Florence's Block
And my work on Patti's block.

Last October my friend Eva took home 12 of my creamy coloured blocks.  Remember I posted last Christmas the cushion she made from 4 of those blocks, here's a picture to refresh your memory.

Here is the full set now, this bed throw arrived last Friday, boy was I surprised, it's just stunning, I am one lucky girl to have a wonderful friend like Eva. Just what the doctor ordered after a hectic month.

Eva has made the throw to match the pillow.  So now when were travelling next year I have this beautiful set to put on my bed.

Here is the left side
 The middle section, all fans

And the right side, complete with one of my beetles, finally one I get to keep.

Thank you my dear friend Eva, I will have to give you the biggest hug when I see you next.

Catching up

I can't believe we are half way though March already, where has this year gone.  While we wait here in North Queensland for two cyclones (one potential - not named yet as of this post), to cross the coast, I am busy behind the scenes working on two projects for Joggles.com for the Spring offerings.  I have finished but can't show you yet my work, as that would ruin the surprise.

I have also been busy working on my blocks for more Round Robins this year, two of which are already in full swing.  Those two are with Southern Cross Crazies, my Australian Yahoo crazy quilting group.  We are working on two RR's, one is a needle case and the other is a DYOB.  I have finished this months work already and am ready to post along with the next two RR's about to start.  Funny enough that they both have the same name, Gardens and Flowers except one is a Traditional RR (one 12 inch block) and the other is a DYOB with 6 6 inch squares.  Photo's please you ask....

My Needle case for SSC

My work on Glenda's needle case (SSC)

My blocks for the DYOB (SSC) We have seven participants, so I choose to add 8 blocks.

My work on Alison's DYOB (SSC) her theme is Under the sea..... Loved working with these colours...

My Traditional Gardens and Flowers 12 inch Block, for my curtains in my craft room...

And my blocks for the Garden and Flowers DYOB - yes they are the same or similar to the others, that's because they are from a set of 20 blocks.

Here is the full set.
I'm considering making a single quilt for my niece for her 21st.
Time for more stitch.... gonna finish my CQJP block 6.

Christmas Stitching and swaps catchup.

Now that school is finished I have had more time on my hands, so I have had time to finish off some stitching.  I have made my hubby's mum a reversible bag.

My son has a lady friend who is coming to lunch Christmas day.  So that she didn't feel left out I made her a stocking.  I think she will like it, I did ask for some input about what colour etc.

This is the full view.

Close  up of the candle, and the heal.

The toe, her name is Rachel, so it makes it personalised for her.
The button trail at the top.

I was in the Lion's stocking swap again this year, here is the one I sent: (without the holly brooch).

This is what I received in return, I received one of Lyn's, the rich red and blue roses are amazing. A lovely notepad and a length of tatted lace.

For the Southern Cross Crazies Swap I also received my cracker which was made by Viv, absolutely stunning.

Lastly for the Fat Quarter swap Xmas gift, for Maureen I sent a needle case purse with needles and a pair of fairy scissors.

These lovely gifts I received in return.

A lovely pink purse and wonderful Christmas bag with pouch.

Lastly I was presently surprised by this gift. Eva and Alison pinched some of my completed CQ Blocks. Four of these blocks from a Round Robin I completed some time ago were made into a stunning cushion.  Summer DYOB - 2009, the blocks were embellished by Karrin H,  Rita C, Rebbeca B and Lyn G. There are still two more blocks, but they are being made into something else I believe.

I have such wonderful friends. Have a very stitchery Christmas my friends.....

Here's to a prosperous 2014.

Thanks for following

App update and stitching catchup

Re the App.... Watch this space over the next two or three days, something exciting is about to happen....

In the mean time I have been catching up on some stitching...

DYOB Stumpwork: Susan's blocks
Can't remember what her theme was, but I gave the block a very "Australian' theme with the idea of the Kookaburra sit's in the ole gum tree.......

One of my fibre friends gave me this Kookaburra button, and he was just perfect for the block.
Some more close-ups:

We have the Townsville Stitches and Craft Show up here last weekend, and whilst I was there manning our exhibits I got to finishing my block 4 of the Twelve days of Christmas. This first picture show's with the removable ornament, (which all blocks will have).

This is the Ornament removed from the block. A 3D 'Cally' Bird landing on a branch.
Here is the block without the orny.
Most of the braids, beads and embellishments came from one of the shops at the show, Zenozam.  They had so much stuff, just so cool. Make sure you visit their shop.  These lovely blue flowers were on their stand, they sold out of them.
The flower beads above the bird was from their shop too.  Here is a close up of the 'Cally' Bird.

I have also finished a couple of our Fibres challenge pieces. Here is my iPad cover which was made from two 6 x 4 inch pieces of fabric.
This will eventually be one of the new projects in the first update of the app.
There were a few other items, but I forgot to take pictures of them.

Come back in a couple of days and there will be very exciting news and a giveaway, so click on the side to receive an email when I post.....
