Version 3 - Arlene's Crafts Embroidery App - In the App Store

Hello all dear people,

Keeping you up to date, the version 3 of the Embroidery App is live in the App store. If you have a purchased copy it will update to a purchased version automatically, if not, please let me know.

I have also been working on the next three Apps, Stumpwork, Goldwork, and Crazy Quilting.

Here are two of the three Icons for the new apps. I hope they don't take me as long to create as the Silk Ribbon Embroidery one.

Beetle tutorials - now available for sale

Hi All, yes long time no see.

My goldwork and beadwork beetles are now available in my Etsy shop as a tutorial download.

I have also released my Goldwork Crazy Quilted Tree skirt as a tutorial, which you get the gold work beetle tutorial FREE.

Crazy Quilted Christmas Tree Skirt Tutorial - Release

It's been too long since I've posted.  So much has happened, so I'll make a couple of posts to tell you all about it.  My Christmas Tree skirt that I made back in 2012 has been published in Pam Kellogg's CQ Magazine.  Click here for the link.

To coincide with the release I have finally created a tutorial so you can make my Tree skirt also.

More Boxes completed

Now we have several months in this location, Burrum Heads, Queensland, such a lovely place to be living at the moment. I have become involved in a craft group here and in April I will be running a class on making Crazy Quilted Fabric covered boxes. Here are two that I have created for the class, both of these are been donated to use as prizes for up coming Mothers Day Raffles.

 The fabric on the outside of this box was from their giveaway table that Dawn (our neighbour) had collected a few months ago, just goes perfectly if you ask me.

Now to creating one for myself, a Blue Christmas Box for our traveling Christmas Decorations.

What to do with CQ Blocks?????

I've been doing the  courses that Kathy Shaw has provided FREE of charge over the last year.

Well I emailed Kathy to say she hadn't sent me the next lesson of the last course, not realizing there wasn't another one to come.  So she suggested I go back to the start and redo it.  Well not quiet, but what does one do with all those blocks we've just embellished.

Well we have purchased our next 'mobile home' to continue our travels around Australia.

My 'Craft room' consists of four plastic drawers and a sewing machine. In the previous van hubby had pulled out the lounge and my 4 drawers sat nicely there with a curtain that come over the top and latched into the wall at the bottom. This stopped movement whilst we were traveling.

But as this has a different floor plan we've had to re-think where to put my 'Craft room' - four drawers. So two will be situated at the front of the van in the bedroom area one either side. The other two will fit under the kitchen table. Now that they are separated we can't use the same curtain set up. This photo show's the back of the van where the table and lounge is. Can't pull the lounge out on this one, too difficult.

So I thought about it for a while and came up with the idea of individual slip covers for them. This way if they fall over during travel the drawers will stay in and the contents won't spill over the floor.
So using the blocks from this course I am making four covers. Here is the first one, three more to go.

 The top, I will eventually embellish this, as it's also lined.

 Sides have the same fabric, the back is just calico (muslin).

 Close up of the block. Didn't end up putting a beetle on, would have gotten caught on a lot of things.

There is always different uses for our blocks, not just quilts or covers for books etc. Think outside the box everyone.

Last of CQ Round Robins

Well I have finished my work on my final two Round Robins with Crazy Quilting International for a while due to us off travelling our great county in a few weeks.

Both of the Round Robins were themed 'Garden and Flowers'.

Traditional RR - Candji's block.  I added a beetle and sent to Gerry to complete as this was a time when we were preparing the house for sale.

And my finished block, just stunning, so much work and detail.  Will be made into a cushion for our new caravan.

 Then the DYOB (Do your own block) - Barbara's blocks, this is my work.

 Barbara's full set after I had completed mine.  These were sent to Elizabeth to do one and then she would send the set home to Barbara.

Now to refresh your memory this is my original set (they were destroyed by a post office truck fire), my second set I sent contained four fans.

 Here are my completed blocks.

they will be added to the other six blocks from the Southern Cross Crazies Round Robin and made into a single bed throw (eventually, as they are now packed).

They will all look so good together I think.

Thank you to all the ladies who worked on my blocks, I will miss doing them, but I will have CQ to keep me busy with the 2015 CQJP starting up in January and I have at least 30 blocks to do, as well as the remaining six blocks in my 12 days of Christmas Wall hanging.

Here are my CQ Blocks for 2015, they will be made into a bedspread for the caravan, in Aussie outback colours.

CQJP 2014 - Round Robins and Android App update

Well hi all,  even though I haven't been on for a little while I have been busy.  With 4 RR's happening, getting class projects finished for Joggles, CQJP stitching and Scouting, life is very busy.  To start with I have finished block 6 of my 12 block CQJ Project.

As this is the sixth block, that makes the first half of the wall hanging finished (Stitching at least).

Now to the RR's

and now to the update on the APP.  As of today we have over 800 downloads on the Apple app. Christopher and I have been working on the Android version, it's coming soon, so watch this space. Far more involved than the apple one. Chris is to a point now where I am doing the inputting of the repetitive stuff - stitch info, pictures etc, so keep watching, maybe by the later half of this year we might be looking for testers.  So What do you think of our new Ad?
