Building an APP - Giveaway

G'day All,

There are so many APP's out there, but not very many on embroidery, so my son (a techno lad) and I are going to build an APP - called of course - Arlene's Crafts. It will include free tutorials of stitches, and elements of some of my creations. With an 'in market' tool to buy a full class if you wish.

Not to say I have enough to do, but I am in the early stages of building the APP for IPhone, IPad, and Android devices. But I need YOUR help.  I need some feedback, suggestions and researchers.

First of all I need to do some market research, are you interested?   If yes, and you agree to sign a confidentiality agreement, (governed in the state of Queensland, Australia) then send me an email with your details, where in the world you live. Once I receive this I will send you a survey form.

Then hopefully shortly after we've collated the information and designed the app, I will send you a link to download the app (in it's early stages) and you will do a test run and send feedback to us. This may happen a couple of times, depending on feedback and bugs in the APP.  We hope to have the app approved by Apple by the end of the year.

The app is going to be a FREE app, with some 'in market' tabs. Here's an example of what the pages may look like. This would be one of the Free stitch tutorials.

And of course my 3D butterfly will be one of the first free tutorials on the app.

If you don't want to be part of the research and development of this APP, but would still like to leave suggestions, please leave a comment and everyone who does (including those who wish to participate) will go into the draw for one of my latest creations - 'Hopper-grass'. An up coming class soon on Joggles.

Entry closes next Friday evening 8.00 pm 12th April (Australian Time).

Hi Arlene, this looks like a great idea. I have the C&T app and I use it all the time. I would be happy to help as a tester for you.

Hi Arlene
Anything that encourages people to become interested in embroidery is worth considering, go for it.

How exciting, & what a fantastic idea. Keep me posted on its progress. I would love to get this app. About time there was a great app :-) I should see if my son is techno enough to make one with my works. We could together build a new revolution in embroidery technology :-) Hugs Elizabeth xxx

Oh I wish I had one of those devices so I could test it for you. Almost makes me want to go out and buy one. LOL
It would be so handy to have the stitches with me all the time, instead of having to carry a book.

sorry Arlene cannot help here as I think to have apps you need a mobile phone that has internet access?
My phone is just a basic that makes calls and texts. best of luck I am sure there are masses of embroiderers who will be able to participate.

Arlene -

I have an android and I'd love to test for you. I'm happy to accept your NDA. I also have access to many other devices (including possibly a Windows 8 phone soon) through developer friends.

This is a great idea. As a lefty, I'd like to see the stitches done from the lefty point of view. I have an ipad and will be watching for this

This is a great idea, Arlene, and \i wish you much success with this new venture. Unfortunately, where I currently live, none of these devices work....sigh.....so I can't help with feedback.

Is your app be for any phones or for specific phones like Iphone?
I hate when an app comes out and its only useable for the Iphone, I have an android phone.

I would love it if you're making one that could be used across all phones. I get very frustrated when you see an app that is only for the Iphone and not android???
