Southern Cross Crazy's RR - Needlecase

Yes I've had a lot to blog of a late, should have done at the time, but you know how things can get away from you.  So above is Joy's block after my work.

My rose buds are the ribbon ones, not the bullion ones. I did my favourite woven roses and a looped flower and leaf stitch flower. And yes my butterfly is upside down, an oops, wasn't gonna pull him out.

One more piece to go, Florences arrived just the other day, so will send it of later in June. And that will be another round robin finished.

Some more work that I have done, not blogged yet

As I've been ill this past week, I've had time to catch up on alot of stuff, my blog posting for one.

During the last week of May my Butterfly, bees and beetle round robin block made it's way home down under. WOW was I blown away by it's beauty. The work Meg, Diane, Cathy and Janet did was amazing, as you can see here.

I have a few closeups of the wonderful work these ladies have done.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery Round Robin - Diane's block

During the last week of May I also finished my work on Diane's SRE Block. It was a lovely block to work on, so to keep with the theme of flowers I added some loopy flowers on a vein and small gathered flowers.

Here you can see the gathered flowers with their beads. You can also notice the whipped backstitch stem.

I added beads here and there to add to the effect of lots of little flowers and buds.

My seam treatments were a row of rose buds and also a seam consisting of chevron stitch and beads.

Here is a better picture of the rose bud seam, along with a lace motif.

And even more stitching

I also completed Cathy's Fairy block today. I choose the rose one as I had this lovely rose motif that would sit nicely on the block.

I added to the rose fabric on the left some hand dyed chain stitch buds, just to highlight the rose buds.

I then added those woven roses that I love doing so much to the top right corner.

I also added a silk ribbon butterfly and a lovely cream braid with a single strand of red cotton wrapped along it. 

I then chain stitched two sides of the centre silkie and then wrapped them with verigated floss.

To finish of I buttonholed the botton of the silkie and added flower beads all over it.

And here is the rose motif that I thought would look so good on this block.

More stitching for the day

A very productive day for me, here's the first of two fairy blocks I completed today. Janet's fairy block was fun to work on as I loved the colours. Here's the whole  block and then some of the embellished elements.

I've added a lovely little tatted butterfly that my friend Mary from Fibers and Fabrics tatted for me, and a lovely white flower motif.  I then zig zagged chain stitch around the little diasy fairy, and added a couple of buttonhole butterflys and a lasy daisy flower.  The Butterfly print on the right, which was upside down, I just added some colonial knots to his wings.  Beneath this I added a chevron seam and more woven ribbon roses. On the top I added some bullion and lasy daisy flowers and in the top right a leaf ribbon stitch flower and button hole seam.

So now for the closeups - first the woven roses in 4mm hand dyed silk ribbon.

Next our lovely little tatted butterfly from my friend Mary.

These are the buttonhole butterflys and lasy daisy flower.

And last of all one of the bullion/lasy daisy flowers.

Busy day stitching

Well while I haven't been well, I've had some time to sit and stitch, nice to be able to relax.  So I've worked on a couple of my Round robins. First is the Pansies DYB which are Alice's blocks.  Here is the full block, with more pictures of the close ups of the elements,

We were also asked to do a small amount on the 6th block, so I added another Pansie motif and a seam treatment of chrevon stitch with beads.

Changing from Ning - due to them charge for blogs

Pansy 'DYB' - Do Your block - my blocks

Another round robin for me to sink my teeth into.  Once I get all of these round robins out of the way I'll be able to concentrate on my own work.  Won't over committ next time.

Any way here are my 6 blocks for this round robin.  Four blocks and two fans.

My autumn and Spring ATC’s for the Embroiderers Guild Forum Swap

My autumn and Spring ATC’s for the Embroiderers Guild Forum Swap.
Well I am now three quarters of the way through this swap. Here are my autumn and Spring ones.

I have used the same 28count linen that I used for my Winter ATC’s on the autumn ones.
This is the one I did for Anney. Two woven spirals and sewn with variegated no 5 Perle cotton.

For Dianne I used a Stef Francis dyed silk for the leaf, and the side panel was at top cream No 5 Perle cotton, and the base is hand dyed 6 stranded cotton.

For Elizabeth’s I used the same hand dyed stranded cotton in Dianne’s.
I love doing sumptuous surfaces. This one was my favourite.

For Grace, I practiced my trellis stitch for the side panel and the leave is a whipped stem stitch. Thread used is a No 5 Perle cotton.

For Isabelle’s I used a brownish chiffon added beads and again used my favourite Perle cotton.

Julie who is new to the swap I had some lovely sparkle felt, and I just overstitched with some gold thread, and added some Fly stitch leaves in the side panel.

Kim was also new to the Forum; I did a fly stitch large leave and some smaller ones in variegated stranded cotton. I then used some leftover paint for the background; it just looked a little to bear.

And last was Mandy’s. Here I used my Perle No 5 variegated cotton again, and wove a grid on the side panel, the leave was backstitched and then I had the veins coming from the centre out, they are woven into the backstitch.

Lastly for my Spring ATC’s I decided to make them all the same. I discovered this lovely lace in Shrewsbury, so I cut out the flowers and dyed them in some herbal tea, the one Michael likes, Orange Mango and Cinnamon tea. I then added a couple of Butterfly’s. They are sewn on a piece of green jade silk I got for 50p (for a metre or yard).
